For IOCCO, open innovation is an established practice. Collaboration with customers, businesses and research connects production requirements with complementary expertise.
The Innovation Center in Cupello covers approximately 4,000 m²: a 2,200 m² temperature-controlled workshop, with the remaining area used for offices. Design, construction and solution verification take place in the same centre. IOCCO's networks broaden the expertise available to address new industrial challenges.
Spaces that encourage ideas and connections
The Innovation Center was designed to encourage creativity and collaboration. Work, meeting and shared spaces promote exchange between IOCCO people and dialogue with customers, suppliers and institutions.
Different experiences, needs and perspectives generate new ideas and development opportunities. The spaces actively support open innovation: places to raise questions, explore possibilities and develop answers to industrial challenges together.

Networks broadening IOCCO's horizons
Participation in complementary ecosystems connects digital transformation with new applications. IOCCO is a member of MATCH 4.0 and the Abruzzo Aerospace District.
MATCH 4.0
Connecting businesses and digital innovation
The Abruzzo Digital Innovation Hub supports businesses in digital transformation, innovation and sustainability. Digital maturity assessment, training and access to specialist expertise connect business needs with research and technology opportunities.
For IOCCO, membership aligns with an approach that starts with an industrial problem, brings together expertise and identifies a practical development path.
The Abruzzo Aerospace District brings together businesses, universities and research centres to develop the aerospace supply chain. Its fields include precision mechanics, sensors, digital technologies and advanced systems.
Membership expresses IOCCO's ambition to engage with new challenges and expertise. It means broadening collaboration and assessing how industrial automation experience can contribute to new applications through shared development.
Controlled conditions, applications across sectors
The 2,200 m² temperature-controlled workshop is available for building, integrating and verifying plants and processes requiring controlled thermal conditions. This capability is open to all industrial sectors: environmental requirements, configuration and activities are defined for each project.
From construction to full-scale trials, the space enables system operation and integration to be verified before installation at the customer's site. Test conditions and acceptance criteria are agreed to assess results against the intended application.
An established application: laminated automotive glass
Laminated automotive glass assembly is an established application: trials involving handling, cutting, welding and assembly of interlayers such as PVB, PDLC, SPD, EVA and XIR solutions, according to material and process. This experience illustrates the use of the workshop for operations with specific environmental requirements and provides a foundation for applications in other sectors.
Study an operation or product before defining its industrial application.
Verify integration
Observe how devices and operations work together.
Prepare for acceptance
Compare system behaviour against agreed criteria.
From virtual study to physical testing
Simulation, Digital Twin and issue analysis prepare system verification. In the temperature-controlled environment, trials compare plant behaviour with agreed acceptance criteria.
Vacuum Bag Furnace development provides a concrete example: IOCCO integrated AI and a digital twin to optimise parameters and manage anomalies. This experience connects research, software and industrial application, developing expertise for different production environments.
